Discover Early: Screen for Type 1 Diabetes Risk

The CanScreen T1D pilot screening program is being developed to identify newborns and children who may be at risk of developing type 1 diabetes (T1D). We anticipate that the program will be ready for implementation by the end of year 2025. Once developed, our research team is hoping to find participants from diverse regions and cultural backgrounds across Canada to ensure that the program reflects the country’s rich diversity and is effective for all communities.

If your child is identified as being at risk of developing T1D, your family may gain access to a range of benefits, including educational resources, monitoring support, and future guidance on therapies that could potentially delay or prevent the complications associated with T1D.

Although the screening program is still in development, there are several ways you can stay informed and involved. Follow us on social media, subscribe to our newsletter, and explore other opportunities to participate in our various research projects. Your involvement is crucial to ensuring that our program serves everyone effectively.
