The webinar is designed to inform healthcare professionals and stakeholders about the autoimmune nature of type 1 diabetes (T1D), highlighting the presymptomatic stages and the crucial importance of early screening and detection strategies. Attendees will obtain valuable information on recent innovations and strategies for the management of T1D.

Learning Objectives:
- Describe the autoimmune pathophysiology of autoimmune T1D and how disease progression can be quantified.
- Exploring the clinical importance of screening and how to identify people at increased risk of developing autoimmune T1D.
- Discuss the clinical management of people with early-stage autoimmune T1D, including emerging treatment options.

- Dr. Bruce Perkins is a Professor of Medicine in the Division of Endocrinology and Metabolism at the University of Toronto.
- Dr. Constadina Panagiotopoulos is a Pediatric Endocrinologist at the BC Children’s Hospital. She is also a researcher involved in the CanScreen T1D research consortium’s ‘Creation of a Canadian T1D Genetic Data Repository to Validate a Trans-Ethnic Genetic Risk Score (GRS)’ and ‘Establishment of Canadian clinical autoantibody lab’ projects.
- Dr. Lara Green is the National Manager of Research and Training Programs at JDRF Canada.

- Dr. Rémi Rabasa-Lhoret is a Professor of Medicine and Nutrition at the University of Montreal. He is also a researcher involved in the CanScreen T1D research consortium’s ‘Creation of a Canadian T1D Genetic Data Repository to Validate a Trans-Ethnic Genetic Risk Score (GRS)’ project.
- Dr. Despoina Manousaki is an Assistant Professor, Departments of Pediatrics and Biochemistry and Molecular Medicine at the University of Montreal. She is also the principal investigator of the CanScreen T1D research consortium’s ‘Creation of a Canadian T1D Genetic Data Repository to Validate a Trans-Ethnic Genetic Risk Score (GRS)’ project.
